My bedroom is about 55°F right now. At nights I shiver without two thick blankets. The appartment is owned by the school so I can’t repair the leaky windows or make any permanent changes, and I also can’t set the thermostat in the living room above 68°F.

I’m considering getting a space heater. It has to have an automatic shutoff and tip-over protection, probably. I had my eye on a model with three little legs because it would be sitting on carpet.

People who have experience with space heaters: is this reasonable?

I have a question: why cant you ask permition to repair window? Like it makes danger to your health and in matter pf fact you are only improving living conditions to those who will be after you and stuff. I think they would allow you to do that if you convince them.

I don’t actually own the apartment, and they do have a maitnence crew, if I feel like waiting for a month for them to fix it. It’s not clear where on the window the issue is though, I’m not sure they would be able to figure it out.
