You know what I’m proud of ?
The narrative’s changing and I’m actually really happy that it’s coming mostly from young people. It’s not exclusive, but I think young people need to own it. Young people, high school, college age, maybe a little bit older are really the ones fueling it all. Truth be told, as soon as those people realize that they’ve got all the power—they have so much power—they have the power of their attention which is the power of corporate money. Who are you advertising to? You’re advertising to college and high school kids. Whose attention do you want when it comes to your music, your commercials, your fashion, your product and so on? If it’s not young people championing it, then it’s probably not going to work.
And when the young people say like, “This is the way we want the world to be,” everyone else is going to have to just bend to that eventually, because they’re the ones who have all the power. And by the way, they’re also the ones who are going to be around longer. These seventy, eighty year-old people running these corporations and sitting in public office are going to die, to be blunt.
