ThanOS: an OS where any time you click the mouse, every file has a 50/50 chance of being deleted

I could make that into a bash script if i wasn’t a lazy ass.

It’s like the Suicide Linux package that interprets every unknown command as “rm -rf /” but it only deletes half the files and it does that every time you want to do anything at all.

Thanos only did it once though.

I mean, so would you, probably :p

Wrote a 10 line bash script to Thanos snap everything in the current directory. (Started everything with thanos_ to avoid any issues with Ubuntu snap packages)

#! /bin/bash
thanos_snapall(){
   for var in “$@”
   do thanos_snap $var
   done
}
thanos_snap(){
   if (( $RANDOM % 2 == 0 )); then rm -f $1; fi
}
find -print0 -type f | xargs -0 thanos_snapall

Do you fools not know the danger that you play with

Perfectly balanced, as all things should be

Hey can I just say that it’s utterly fucked that George RR Martin and Patrick Rothfuss are revered as gods of modern fantasy writing when neither of them has been able to produce a book in years and they also can’t write women

plus George RR Martin just copied wars of the roses

and Rothfuss made a legit plot point that Kvothe fucked a fairy for months

I’m not saying that I don’t enjoy these books, because I do, but I am just saying that I read fantasy books 10x better by women all the time.

meanwhile, there are so many female fantasy authors who produce brilliant work, but because it is marketed towards women, it’s either YA or it’s paranormal romance (BOTH OF WHICH I STAN OK) and therefore doesn’t get considered “serious” fantasy even though they have better world building, magic, and writing style than most “masters of the genre.”

like, why is it that fantasy books written about women and by women are ONLY READ BY WOMEN AND MARKETED TO WOMEN, meanwhile fantasy books written by men about men are READ BY EVERYONE AND MARKETED AS THE NORM.

like male fantasy nerds are just sleeping on Ilona Andrews because they write about women and add a romance plot line, meanwhile Kate Daniels is one of the best damn fantasy series I have ever read with some of the best world building and plotting e v e r.

And I’m not implying that authors have to produce 3 books a year to be serious authors, but it’s a bit ridiculous that the fantasy genre and pub industry keeps pushing asoiaf and kingkiller chronicles at us when we don’t even have a date for the sequel. WHY DON’T YOU PROMOTE BOOKS BY WOMEN WHO KNOW HOW TO WRITE GOOD FEMALE CHARACTERS?? WHY NOT PROMOTE FANTASY BOOKS BY AUTHORS OF COLOR??

WHY IS FANTASY ON THE SAME WHITE MAN BULLSHIT ALL THE TIME????

One of my favorite fantasy series of all time is N.K. Jemisin’s Broken Earth trilogy. In which every book in the series has won a fucking hugo award! but do you see it getting the same amount of press that these male fantasy authors do? no. and that pisses me off because her books have such amazing fleshed out female (and male) characters and a complex world.

“Starter house”?????? We’re supposed to have more than one house???????

So now you want to listen to what we’ve been hollering about since before fucking Occupy Wallstreet?????

They started us off $35k+ in student loan debt, paid us ‘70s wages, charged us modern prices, and then couldn’t understand why we were broke.

Is “no shit, sherlock?” still an acceptable answer?

Oh, the “starter house” thing. This is what you used to do when you were just starting out: you bought a house for just you and your spouse. You sold it to a younger couple and moved into a bigger house no later than the birth of your first or second kid. By that time, you were supposed to have been promoted and gotten a raise or two, at least… oh, and by the way, that raise was to be big enough that you could not only afford that bigger house, you could afford it on one salary, because that was when your wife stopped working to stay home with the kids.

That’s how my grandparents (immediately post-WWII) did it. That’s how my parents (mid-1970s) did it. Oh, and the third house my parents ever purchased, when they upgraded to a still affordable but spacious and very nice one, when I was a preteen? The purchase price was maybe 1.5 times my dad’s salary, with payments spread out over a 30-year mortgage.

But yeah, Millennials, who mostly weren’t even born the last time this was feasible, are the ones who are ruining everything.

artemis fowl movie:

failed step one

The casting call for Artemis Fowl described him as a boy with a “fun-loving, open heart” so you knew before they even landed their eyes on the first mediocre white person the movie was irretrievably fucked

The casting call described him as what now

last i checked back in 6th grade, artemis was a fuckin dick of a child

“emotional intelligence” artemis fowl literally would rather die than express an emotion

im pretty sure he actually has on multiple occassions

im reblogging this again because i just remembered that artemis fowl hates being a Human Being With Feelings so much that he emotionally and mentally devastated *several* psychologists so badly that they gave up the profession, just because he didn’t want to admit that his father being declared dead and his mother falling into severe untreated mental illness such that she couldn’t recognize him on most days might, maybe, have upset him a little.

I had such hopes.

A good reason to believe in aliens: because it’s statistically improbable that our planet is the only planet in our universe with life.

Bad reason to believe in aliens: discrediting the capability and competence of ancient civilizations and their ability to build things in a practical manner.
